Inspired by Roope Mokka’s article in Monocle (issue 15) on Helsinki 2.0, we are developing a similar idea for Auckland City, New Zealand. The ‘Analogue Series’ is the physical precursor to a web-based interface that will allow people of Auckland City to place needs, desires, and ideas onto a map of the city. Combining the open source approach of wikipedia, with the personal interaction of social networking (facebook) and online trading sites, our project aims to empower people to voice their concerns by providing the potential for their views to be reinforced and realised through critical mass.

Ultimately, our aim for this project is to define the future values of Auckland City, and to consider the ways in which this can inform the design of our built environment.
